Lovie Elizabeth Thomas was born on April 17, 1931 in Travis County, Texas to Mathew Hunter and Lillie B. Hawkins (preceded her in death). She married James H. Burleson, Sr. who preceded her in death and to this Union, two children were born, Henry Douglas Burleson who preceded her in death and James H. Burleson, Jr. Later in life, Lovie married Nathaniel Thomas, who also preceded her in death and to this Union, Elizabeth Thomas was born.

At an early age, she professed her life to Christ and has been a member of Mt. Olive since April 4, 1965 where she served on the Usher Board and was a member of Mission 1 for many years.

After being encouraged to continue her education by her son, She decided to go to school to complete her high school education and graduated from Austin High School and later attended the Austin Community College.

As a part of her beautiful life, she worked at the Austin State School in health care for many years. She also volunteered and served as a Foster Grandparent in the Austin Community College's Foster Grandparents Program.

She departed this beautiful life on December 26, 2014 after celebrating a very Merry Christmas with her family!!!

Sisters and brothers preceding her in death were Thelma Arnold, Bernice Harriston, Woodrow Hunter, Matthew Hunter, and Lester Hunter.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Thomas of Bastrop, Texas and her son, James H. Burleson, Jr. of Washington, DC, one sister Louise Moore, and a host of relatives and friends.

Services entrusted to A Life Celebration by Franklin, Taylor, Texas.
