On February 15, 1951, Roy Lee Haywood was born to Roy Haywood, Jr. and Beulah Clark Haywood, both of whom preceded him in death.

He attended the Austin Independent School District (Sims, Allen and Johnston). He worked in the Contract Maintenance/Construction Field(s). Roy Lee worked hard his entire life, but become disabled prior to his time of death.

Roy Lee was raised in the fear and admonition of the Lord. His parents took him to the church they were members of whenever teaching or preaching was scheduled and taught him the bible at home. Roy Lee, like most young adults, ventured away from attending church; but he eventually reunited with Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Roy Lee was very ill 24 years ago and his Sisters thought that he was going to die because his body was deteriorating right before their eyes. One day he asked one of his sisters to pray for his healing and the Holy Spirit led her to talk to him about his salvation prior to praying for his healing. He was excited and asked what he needed to do to be saved. The Holy Spirit directed his sister on what to say. She explained to him the scriptures Romans 10:9-10 "9 If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved." (NIV) The Holy Spirit also prompted her to discuss the importance of having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. His Sister saw a noticeable change in Roy Lee and God Miraculously healed his body.

He leaves to cherish his memory: two sons, Anthony Taylor Sr. (wife Sherika) of Dallas and Sean Davis (wife Doris) of Austin; one step-daughter, Theresa Taylor of Austin; two sisters, Hattie Bolden (husband Randy) and Laverne Haywood both of Austin; three brothers, Thomas Haywood of Austin, Edward Haywood (wife Waltraud) of Pflugerville, and Kenneth Haywood (wife Sharon) of Austin; one grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Two brothers, Morris and Raymond Haywood preceded him in death.
