A time to be Born…Roger William Thomas, Jr. was born July 15, 1927 in Austin, Texas. He was the second of nine children born to Roger W. Thomas, Sr. and Eva Morgan Thomas.

A time to Learn… Roger Jr. attended Olive Street Elementary School at the age of 6, continuing at Kealing Jr. High and graduating from L.C. Anderson High School in 1948. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Huston-Tillotson College.

A time to Love… Roger Jr. was united in marriage to Georgia Nell Robinson in Corsicana, Texas.

A time to Work and Serve… Roger Jr.'s early working years were spent with his father, Roger Sr., doing carpet work. He was employed at the Tower Night Club and Restaurant until he was drafted in the U.S. Army. While in service, he spent one year at Fort Hood and one year in Germany. He was later employed by the Terrace Motor Hotel until its closing. He was employed by Gary Job Corps in San Marcos, Texas. He was among the first teachers employed at the facility. He taught Physical Education and Driver's Education until his retirement in 1996. Roger Jr. accepted Christ at an early age under the pastorage of Reverend Jerome C. Lott at Ebenezer Baptist Church. He worked with the bus ministry under Reverend Marvin C. Griffin.

A time to Die… Roger, Jr. was blessed to live a full, happy and rewarding life. On Wednesday January 8, 2014, God called him to eternal rest. Preceding him in death are his parents, Roger and Eva Thomas and his sisters, Fannie Ruth Houston and Lucellastine "Shange" Woods.

A time to Mourn… He is forever loved by his wife, Georgia Nell; son Cory House (Veronica), Gary, Indiana; four grand children and 10 great grandchildren; six siblings: Joyce Williams (Augustus), Waukegan, Illinois; Narva Kirby (Therman), Houston, Texas; Mae Turman, San Antonio, Texas; George Thomas (Cheryl), Austin, Texas; Donna Clark (Alfred), Waukegan, Illinois; and Linda C. Thomas, San Antonio, Texas; 5 nieces: Marsha Bratton (Donald), Lauralyn Jeter, Monica Woods, Eva Lee Andra Hicks and Ri-Chard Thomas; 5 nephews: Tillman "Skeeter" Woods, Richard Kirby, Gregory Karo, Jadaun Clark and Michael Thomas; two sisters-in-law: Lizzie Ann Robinson Porter (Waco, Jr.) San Antonio, Texas; Mettie Louise DeVaughn (Canary) Houston, Texas and two brothers-in-law: Burtis B. Robinson (Elayne) Pelham, Texas and Curtis Robinson (Jessie)Milwaukee, Wisconsin; fourteen nieces and nephews: Louis C. DeVaughn (Carolyn), Wayne E. DeVaughn, Donna DeVaughn Tidline, Bruce Spears (Debbie), Debra K. Spears Brazil, James E. Spears, Rita M. Spears Pryor, Tina Robinson Baker, B. Bradwyck. Robinson (Felicia), Corey Robinson, Argra N. Porter Thompson, Alice E. Porter Powell-Brown (James), Alena M. Porter Gillum (Troy) and Waco C. Porter III (Sheila); three cousins: Mary Alice Bess, Austin, Texas; Judy Jones Carter, Temple, Texas; Opal Thomas, Dallas, Texas; and a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.
