Sylvester Walker, Jr. was born on March 28, 1928 to the late Sylvester Walker, Sr. and Thelma Almeda Walker. He was the youngest child of four born to this union.

He retired from Austin ISD where he worked for a number of years. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age at St. John Regular Baptist Church. Later he joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where he was ordained as a deacon under Rev. O. T. Arnold. He served as president of the Brotherhood and active in Sunday school and BTU.

Though Sylvester was the best fisherman, he rarely ate what he caught!!! He had an infectious laugh and smile that could not be denied. He was loved by many and never met a stranger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Joe Dell Walker (Ocie Mae) and Willie D. Walker, Sr., one sister Fannie Mae (Walker) Carter and two children: son Charles Earl Walker, Sr. and daughter Cora (Lois) Walker Bacon.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his wife Bessie L. Walker and to this union a daughter Jacqueline Bennett (Charles) from Manor, TX; and from previous marriages a son Edward Leon Walker, Sr. (Willie Ruth), Dallas, Texas; four daughters, Shirley Walker, Austin, Texas; Loretta Walker Hawkins, Dallas, Texas; Nelda Walker, Austin, Texas; many considered him dad such as Thelma Carter (San Marcos, TX); a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
