Larry Joe Rogers, was born to Willie and Missourie Rogers in Statham, Georgia on January 7, 1949. Larry accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and united with the Barbers Creek Baptist Church.

In 1967, he graduated from Glenwood High School in Winder, Georgia. Soon after graduating, Larry joined the United States Air Force, and later began his career with the United States Postal Service, where he was a faithful employee for 42 years until his retirement in 2009.

Larry enjoyed cooking, playing dominoes and karaoke, and was known to be an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and the San Antonio Spurs. Most of all, he enjoyed and was especially fond of his grandchildren.

Surrounded by his loving family, Larry departed this life on November 21, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Missourie Rogers, his brothers, Vernon and Andrew Rogers and sisters, Corrine Dunn, Shirley Maelhi and Eunice Harbin.

He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife of 29 years Janice Rogers; three sons, Durward "Chuck" Brooks and Damon Rogers (Tawana) both of Atlanta, Georgia and Delvin "D.J." Rogers of Austin, Texas; two daughters, DeNae Rogers and Davia Hicks (Ray) of Austin, Texas; three sisters, Florine Jacks (John) of Decatur, Georgia, Pauline Davis of Statham, Georgia and Stella Rogers of Altadena, California; three brothers: Richard Rogers and Odell Rogers of Statham, Georgia and Steve (Cancilla) Rogers of Austin, Texas. Also left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren- Christopher, Courtney, Daeja, Ja'mya, Eric, Jayden, Bryce and Blake; mother-in-law, Mae F. Prosser; sister-in-law Wanda Fowler; brothers-in-law Vernon Prosser of San Diego, California, and David Prosser, Wilfred (Rashanda) Prosser and Lawrence (Mary) Prosser all of Austin, Texas, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
