Cynthia Elaine Johnson Caldwell born January 17, 1951 was a beautiful baby. A quote from her mother per her baby book, "happy, beautiful and starting to look just like her dad." Cynthia was born in Corpus Christi, Texas to Johnnie and Allie Faye Smith Johnson. She attended North Ward Elementary school in Taft, Texas where her father was principal. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout where she enjoyed many great camping adventures with her best friend Linda Faye Pleasant. She confessed her faith at an early age and was baptized at Rising Star Baptist Church.

Later, when the family moved to Austin, Texas she attended UJH Junior High School and graduated from Austin High School in 1969. The Class of '69 was truly one of her favorite organizations. She enjoyed keeping in touch with her classmates and sharing in their lives. Cynthia was a warm and compassionate person. She also attended Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas. Later, she became a member of David Chapel Missionary Church where she sang in the choir.

She married Dempsey Caldwell, Jr. after college and had one son named Kevin. She was a wonderful loving mother. If you knew her, Kevin was the beacon in her eye and the smile seen on her face. This was a once and a lifetime love.

Cynthia worked at various state offices, Secretary of State and TX Agriculture Commission where she received multiple achievement awards. She was loved and admired by her co-workers. If you met Cynthia you became family shortly afterwards. She cherished those relationships. She also worked at Kyle New Vision Center in Kyle, Texas and Texas State Prison in Austin, Texas.

On October 2, 2013 God took Cynthia to his mansion where he had prepared a room just for her. Cynthia was preceded in death by her father, Johnnie Johnson Jr. (retired Gary Job Corp Ctr) and her brother, Tyrone Allen Johnson (LC Anderson Basketball Coach). To cherish her memory are son Kevin Caldwell (Shannon); mother, Allie Faye Smith Johnson; sister Debra Johnson Reeves; brother Stanley Johnson; one nephew Andrew Reeves IV; five nieces, Aleise Johnson, Alaina Johnson, Melva Johnson, Shaina Johnson and Seirra Johnson; two great nieces Zamoria Reeves and Sariah Johnson; one great nephew Christon Whitaker as well as a host of close friends and relatives.

Cynthia will be missed, yet the memory of her smile and laughter will always bring joy to our hearts. I will miss my sister but as I told her, I will always be with you. Forever and ever............!"
