Cassandra Genai Harris-Flournoy was born on November 27, 1972 in Austin, Texas to Jackie D. Harris-Crayton (Mother) and Ronnie Joe Branch (Father). Cassandra lived in Lockhart, Texas with her grandparents Curtis and Frankie Kirksey (who raised three generations: her grandmother, her mother and her) until her Mom completed College. Cassandra departed from her earthly home and entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 23, 2013 with her mother hand and hand & family members at her bedside.

Cassandra attended Head Start and Elementary School until second grade in Lockhart, Texas. She then received her formal education within AISD at Harris Elementary, Burnet Jr. High and graduated from Reagan High School in 1991. She furthered her education at Huston-Tillotson College receiving a B.A. in Sociology, and Music in 1998. Whereas she exercised her God given talent with a soprano voice and sung in the H-T-C concert choir.

At an early age Cassandra accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior under the pastoral leadership of Reverend Sylvester Chase at St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Lockhart, Texas. In later years she became a member of the Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend L.K. Jones. She was also a member of Olivet Baptist Church under the Rev. Kennedy Young until she moved her membership to Rehoboth Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend R.A. Hendricks where she remained faithful until she departed. She was Loyal to the Church, sang in the choir & Rehoboth Undignified Praise Team & was a Vacation Bible School Teacher Assistant.

Cassandra possessed other talents and skills which included tap dancing, ballet, playing sax, and playing the drums as well as Singing in Community Choirs and her home church choir. She also sang with the well known Claudia Williams & the Voices of Christ. She experienced the joy of making television commercials for Schlotzsky's Deli and Charter Lane Hospital. The Voices of Christ Group also appeared on the Bobby Jones Gospel Show. She also sang for family gatherings, weddings, funerals, and other events. She volunteered for various civic and non-profit organizations including the Greater East Austin Youth Association and Historical Juneteenth and Specialty Events.

She united in Holy Matrimony with Antoine Flournoy on June 20, 2009 and to this union no children were born. However, she was a very passionate mother to her four step children. She and her Husband Antoine had a bond until her departure.

Cassandra had strong family values always holding on to her motto: "Us Three-Mom, Sister and Brother (Courtney)"……She was excited about having a "lil" brother after 13 yrs. being the only child. She nurtured him and watched him grow up and was overjoyed at becoming an aunt when her niece and nephew was born. Courtney respected her as being the Oldest Sibling and recognized the difference at the early age of 3yrs. addressing her as she who is 13 and so on as she who is 23!!! Now she is she who is 40 and has left lot's of love, precious memories, inspiration and motivation within him.

Although, she never birth any children of her own she held two Courtney's close to her heart, the other one was Courtney Lynn Jones, who admired her from early childhood to the end. Cassandra was Godmother to Willie Carter Jr. who she was very fond of from his birth through his recent High school graduation.

Cassandra, and to mention a few of her friends who addressed themselves as "whooties", were Caralisa, Cerrissa, and Carolota, then there was die heart's LaRhonda and Teressa and their children; long time friend's Conetta and her children, Derrick Bedford and Cedric Tasby. Cousins clan to name a few were Cashana, Keitra, Sonya, and cousin -in law- Kunstance "Shell". Motivator Cousins Charles V. Allen Jr. and although he was long distance Derrick Allen; Paula Harris-Villalobos, Clifton and Shirley Harris, Worlanda Neal, and Sabrina Ellison. One of her favorite Aunt's, Diane, was a constant in her life. "You would have thought that they were twins" (because of their resemblance).

Cassandra was employed by Vinson & Elkins LLP, Pri-America, Mary Kay, Austin Parks and Recreation Department at McBeth Adaptive Programs as an Activity Leader, and several seasons as Summer Playgrounds Supervisor.
Cassandra introduced people into the family that connected and became part of the family, sharing traditional holiday and festival events. She helped volunteer in various city-wide recreational programs and recruited her friends to help her mom complete programs. Some of them received employment in the recreation capacity.
Cassandra was excited about her and a close friend being business partners and her entrepreneurship "Perfect 10 Creations" She was employed at Sprint for a number of years until her health began to fail.
Her hobbies were numerous. She served as secretary for the Sally Watterson Eastern Star Chapter #42, was an avid purse collector, and loved cologne. Her greatest love was music and singing for the Lord. She was one shouting Sister and didn't mind letting the Holy Spirit move her.
Cassandra continuously sang songs of praise on her Bed of Affliction "THE BATTLE IS THE LORD'S" by artist Yolanda Adams. Another favorite was "You Can Make It". In the Rehoboth Church choir she lead by Chicago Mass Choir "Whatever You Want", the Clark Sisters, Mary-Mary, Ernest Pugh, Jessica Reedy, Shirley Cesar, Fred Hammond, John P Kee, Le'Andria Johnson, Kelly Price, & Kirk Franklin. She knew her artist and sang their songs. To mention a few local gospel groups: Kenneth Brown & Resurrection, Rev. James Lott and the Gospel Stars, Chester D. T. Baldwin,("I Still Hear Mama Praying") and Claudia Williams & The Voices of Christ. She backed up personal friend and local gospel artist Howard Crawford for several occasions.
Her Favorite Scripture: Now Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Cassandra was known for her calmness, her pleasant attitude, her enthusiasm, her loving spirit, her resourcefulness, and her dedication. She never met a stranger! She was generous to all, especially to her mother, and was a living example to other young adults.
Cassandra was predeceased by: her maternal grandmother Gladys Kirksey-Harris-Hopson-Baker; her maternal Great-Grand Parents Curtis and Frankie Shannon- Kirksey; and Paternal grandfather Samuel Branch, Jr. and great-uncle Floyd "Monkey"Kirksey.
Cassandra is survived by: her loving husband Antoine; her loving, devoted, dedicated and caring mother "Jackie" and step-fathers Lloyd Holiday & Barry Crayton (Dallas, TX); Brother Courtney Crayton and children Symonne & Tytan; her father and step mother Ronnie Branch (Weda) of (Dallas, TX); Brothers Ronnie Branch, Jr.(Anita): Billy Jones(Round Rock, TX); Labradford Branch (Brianna) & Jerod Branch (both of Dallas, TX); two sisters Andrea Branch-Jones(Willie); Ashley Spence; Grandmother Ella Jo Henderson and Step-Grandmother Bonnie Branch; four Step-children: Antoinette & Shaquillah Flournoy (Iowa) and Antoine Jr.,(Chicago IL) and Deytoine Flournoy (Houston, TX); Father- in-law & mother -in-law Alford & Delores Flournoy (Chicago, IL); four brothers-in-law: Wendell Johnson (Cindy) of (Austin, TX);Frederick Flournoy; Alford Flournoy Jr.(Chicago IL); Myrin Flournoy (Waco, TX); one sister-in-law: Rhonda Smith (Dwayne) (Oakland CA.). Two Grandchildren: Demarion Myles and Markquan Flournoy (Iowa). She also leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, church families, networking groups & individuals and close friends.
Cassandra was affectionately called "Dolly" (Dolly Baby) she and her Mom called each other Lucy with much love and affection and lastly but not least there was "Sandy" and "Cassie" and Jr. because she was much like her mom!!!
In the ongoing and caretaking of Cassandra her Husband (Antoine), Mom (Jackie) and Cousin (Keri) shared responsibilities and Pastor (Rev. R. A. Hendricks) never missed a beat.
