Curtis Alston, Sr., age 74 a dedicated father and grandfather, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013 at his home in Del Valle, Texas after a hard fought battle with diabetes. Curtis Alston, Sr., was born December 10, 1938 in Pittsburgh, PA to Elizabeth (Betty) Alston.

He accepted Christ at an early age and united with 2nd Baptist Church, Carnegie, PA.

Curtis Alston, Sr., attended Allegheny High School in Pittsburgh. In 1954, immediately after graduating, he joined the Air Force where he proudly served for 20 years. He received many awards, medals, and stripes for his service in the Vietnam War.

After retiring from the Air Force, he began another career with The Austin State Hospital as a work trainer supervisor for 16 years.

Curtis lived in Pittsburgh, Germany, New Mexico, Korea, and Vietnam where he shared his comical witticism with everyone he met. His favorite activities consist of spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also found joy in following his team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ultimately, Curtis settled in Austin, Texas where he married Margaret Harper (Limuel) in 1969. He leaves precious memories that will be cherished by his loving children: Curtis Arthur Alston, Jr., Curtina Ann Alston and Vanessa Dell Liles (step-daughter).

Preceding him in death are his mother Elizabeth M. Alston and his sister, Mildred Alston.

He is survived by eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
