Eural Albert Smothers was born October 3, 1924 in Austin, Texas to Ruben Smothers and Eula Moore Smothers.

He received his formal education in Austin Public schools and graduated from the original L. C. Anderson High School where he was a member of the 1941 State Championship Team. Eural was a very industrious person and was employed in the Waste Water Division of the City of Austin where he retired after 28 years of service as supervisor.

Brother Smothers was a life-long member of the Metropolitan A.M.E. Church and at his death he faithfully served at the Metropolitan A.M.E. Church. His services included the following: past church treasurer, steward, president of lay organization, vice president of the choir, member of the male chorus, delegate to the annual conference, layman at biannual.

Along with his Church work Brother Smothers was very active in the Prince Hall Mason Lodge (PHA) Lyons Jr. #290, Webb Smith Consistory #247 and CHEOPS Temple #200, Treasurer of the Capital City and tail twister.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter Euralon C. Smothers White, sister Mary-etta Gross, and brother Ruben Smothers.

He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted and loving wife Nettie Smothers of Austin, TX; son Eural Smothers, Jr. (Anna) of Sacramento, CA; grandchildren Letha C. Ware and Herbert L. Ware both of Austin, TX; great grandchildren Aaria Y. Rattle and Marcus L. Ware of Austin, TX; niece Gladys Marie Mays of Dallas, TX; nephews William Walker of Dallas, TX, Donald Smothers of San Antonio, TX, and Larry Moore of Seattle, WA, several devoted cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.
