Fannie Lou Howard was born to Horace Kennard and Tennie Jackson on January 16, 1922 in Austin, Texas.

Fannie was a Christian woman and began working in the church at a very early age at St. Edwards Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. A. Dewitty. She was active in the mission and music ministries. She was a Deaconess and she also worked where she was needed in the church.

Fannie later united with St. Stephen Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Alton Tisno. She continued working with several ministries of the church and felt blessed to serve.

When her brother-in-law, Rev. A. G. Howard became pastor at St. Matthews Baptist Church, she moved her membership there and served faithfully until her health failed. She loved the Lord and tried to live a life He would be pleased with.

She was married to Brady Lee Howard, Sr. for over seventy years. They were blessed with eleven children. She was affectionately called "Big Mama" by her grandkids. She loved her family and would go above and beyond for all.

Fannie never met a stranger and always helped the less fortunate, many times bringing them home to feed them. She was very giving to her community. She never turned away someone in need. Fannie was very kind and soft spoken, but she was powerful with the love of God in her heart.

She was preceded in death by five children and her husband. Fannie leaves to cherish her memories two sisters, Josephine Kennard and Ida Jean Howard (Rev. A. G. Howard); six children, Don Howard (Doris), Nathaniel Howard (Gladys), Milton Howard (Nancy), Roy Howard, Gloria Howard Stewart, and Karen Howard; eleven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; a very devoted brother-in-law, Oscar Howard, Sr.; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of extended family and friends.
