Gladys Houston was the second child born to Ms. Lula Mae Dansby and Mr. Manuel Rollie on November 7th, 1926. She grew up in Circleville, Texas where she attended the public school system. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.

She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in a little creek in Circleville, Texas. Gladys Houston was a domestic worker for private homes and took great pride in helping to raise her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was affectionately known as Big Momma to all those who knew her and was called "Madea" by her two oldest children. Big Momma never met a stranger and welcomed all into her heart and home.

Gladys Houston was a loyal and faithful member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church of Thrall, Texas for over fifty years. Over the years at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church she served on the Usher Board and Pastor's Aide Committee. She was a dedicated member of Mission I and enjoyed attending Sunday School until her health failed. Even though her health was failing, she remained dedicated to the many activities held at Mt. Pleasant. She loved to hear her Pastor sing and her favorite song was "Precious Lord". Gladys Houston was affectionately known as the "Mother of the Church". She was not only well respected by the members of Mt. Pleasant, but also by her community in Taylor, Texas. Her smile, kind words and laughter will be missed by us all.

Gladys Houston entered eternal rest on December 3rd, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents and two children; Roy Gene Roberson and Mae Pearl Cage.
She leaves to cherish her memory children: Dorothy Anderson of Thrall, Texas; Doris Quintero (Carlos) of Thrall, Texas; Willie Ray and Willie James Roberson of Taylor, Texas; Bobbie Hope (Willie) of Round Rock, Texas; Gloria Roberson of Thrall, Texas; Sherman Houston of Taylor, Texas; adopted daughters: Sister Ella Lott, Eddie Morgan (Piggy) and Linda Turner and adopted son: Pastor James W. Lott. She also leaves one sister: Nina Zachary of Taylor, Texas; a loving son-in-law: Wilbert Cage of Pflugerville, Texas; two sister-in-laws: Hollie Mae Rollie of Granger, Texas and Sophie Rollie of Odessa, Texas; twenty-seven grandchildren; thirty-eight great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and loving friends.
