Pearlie Mae Showels was born on July 8, 1939 to Willie Franklin and Purnina Habbit (Reese) in Taylor, Texas. She and her mother relocated to Manor, Texas where she was raised by her mother and father Amos Habbit. There she met the love of her life, her husband of 57 years, Deacon Willie Joe Showels Sr.

Pearlie began her Christian walk/fight at a very young age while attending church in Manor, Texas. She married her husband when she was just 16 years old and they moved to Austin to begin their family. She and Willie were blessed with eleven children.

There are no words that can describe "Mama." First, and foremost she was a mother. Not only was she a mother to her eleven kids, but also to her nieces, nephews, cousins, and neighbors. She was a devoted wife who loved to cook for her family. She made sure that we were all taken care of even after we were grown and had kids ourselves. We were all her "baby." She was a caretaker and loving friend, always willing to help anyone in need. During her life's journey she touched many lives. She will be truly missed by all.

She was preceded in death by: her father, Willie Franklin; her stepfather, Amos Habbit; two brothers, Raymond and Robert; her sister LaVern McFarlin (Habbit), and a granddaughter Kendall Hosea.

She leaves to cherish her memories: Her husband, Deacon Willie Joe Showels Sr.; her mother, Purnina Habbit; four sisters, Rosetta Easily (Robert), Earnestine Tipton (Howard), Ola Mae Hastings of Lubbock; Willie Bell of Lubbock, one brother; Amos Habbit; six sons, Willie Joe Showels Sr. (Patricia), Ray Anthony Showels (Anita), Ron Regus Showels (Lisa), Steven Showels (Roseann), Patrick Showels (Cinthia), Rev. Cedric Showels (Pamela); five daughters: JoAnn Ayala (Richard) Elfretta Hosea, Ceresa Showels, Carla Cook (Kyn), and Tanya Showels (Marcus); forty-two grandchildren: Dymica, Willie Joe III, Shanerry, Ray Anthony Jr., Candice, Jennifer, Tamara, Antwon, Monique, Domonique, Joshua, Anisha, Tasha, Latonyia, Ricardo, Duane, Michael, Paul, Ronesha, Reveanna, Kanda, Alicia, Steven II, Christopher, Patrick Jr., Brittany, Raven, LaKeisha, Cassondra, Cedric Jr., Cecili, Courtney, Daquarius, Tyrek, Terrance, Cameron, Kaden, Deja, Destiny, Durra, Marcus II, and Madison; forty-three great-grand children; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a multitude of extended family and friends.
