Gerald Anthony Snell was born the second son of Jimmy Snell and Joanna Verdun Snell on January 14, 1959 in Austin, TX.

He attended St. Austin's Catholic School and graduated from L. C. Anderson High School in 1977. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from Southwest Texas State University (now known as Texas State) in San Marcos, TX in 1982, where he also pledged Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. Afterwards he attended the seminary of the SVD order in pursuit of Catholic priesthood for one year in Bay Saint Louis.

Moving back to Austin, TX Gerald persued his love of medicine and the care of his fellow man by going back to school for pharmacy at the University of Texas. He completed his formal education at the University of Illinois at Chicago with a Doctorate of Pharmacy in 1999.

Prior to Pharmacy school, Gerald worked for the Arch diocese of Chicago as a peace and justice councilor. After earning his doctorate, Gerald went to work for Walgreens and then made the transition to CVS in Evanston, IL where he was a valued, respected, and beloved pharmacist until his passing and eternal rest on September 14, 2012.

Gerald was preceded in death by his father Jimmy Snell in 1996, his mother Joanna Snell in 2008, and his younger brother Joseph in 2009.

He is survived by his brother James Gregory Snell (and wife Amy) of Houston, TX; and his sister Juliette Carr (and her husband Jamone) of Beaumont, TX. He also leaves his niece Alyson and nephews Theo and Greg Jr. along with a host of family, friends, co-workers, neighbors and all who are devastated by the loss of such a dear and caring man.
