Lora C. Hemphill was born January 9, 1919, in Kauffman, Texas to Luther and Mary Muskgrove Harper. She was the seventh child of nine siblings.

Lora C. received her early education in the Independent School District in Kauffman, Texas.

Lora C. began her journey with Jesus Christ at an early age. She accepted Christ and was baptized in Kauffman, Texas.

Lora C. moved to Austin, Texas with her family in her early adulthood. She joined the Mount Olive Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of the late Reverend H. A. Sneed. She served as a member of the Choir and the Senior Mission Society. She was a loyal and faithful member of the church until her death.

Lora C. was united in holy matrimony to John Willie Davis and in later years to Arvester Hemphill, both of them preceded her in death. She was blessed with two beautiful daughters.

Lora C. retired after twenty-five years of faithful service as a GSA employee with the Veterans Administration Services in Austin, Texas.

Lora C. departed this life at 8:10 A. M. on Friday, September 7, 2012 at the Pflugerville Nursing and Rehabilitation Home in Pflugerville, Texas.

Lora C. was preceded in death by her parents and her eight siblings.

Lora C. leaves to cherish her precious memories, two daughters, Pearl Graham (Roy), Earlyne Barrs (O. B., Sr.), Austin, Texas; two nieces, Alma Wrightsil (James), Big Springs, Texas; Marjorie Williams (Otis, Sr.), Houston, Texas; five grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, six great, great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
