Lisa Roshon James was born on January 20, 1972 to Raymond and Hester James in Austin, Texas. Lisa attended school in Austin ISD; graduated from John H. Reagan High School in 1990. She continued her education at Austin Community College. Determined to achieve her goal, she graduated in 2009 with an Associate Degree in Paralegal Services. Lisa was employed with the State of Texas more than 20 years.

As a child, Lisa attended the Church of the New Testament where she was an active member. As an adult, she moved her membership to Greater Works Baptist Church under the leadership of her uncle, Pastor Leonard D. James, Sr. Her last request, as reported by the EMS staff, was to "tell my momma, I found Jesus". This is a comforting message for her family and friends.

Lisa had a zest for life and genuine love for others. She embodied, St. John 13:34, "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another." This was evident in her commitments. For many years Lisa spearheaded the annual Easley Mother's Day picnic celebrating her mother and her 10 aunts. She took charge organizing the event to ensure it would take place and that it was a success.

Further, Lisa was committed to making a difference in her community. She took an active role as a campaign volunteer in local, state, and national political campaigns. Lisa spent countless hours delivering signs and making calls to garner support for the candidates she believed were fair and would provide equal access for all people.

Children occupied a huge place in Lisa's heart. Her love and commitment led her to help some of society's most vulnerable children by becoming a foster parent. For nearly 10 years Lisa took these children into her home and into her heart. She took the responsibility to protect, nurture, and love her foster children seriously. During breaks from fostering, she enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews.

Lisa made her transition from earth into eternity on Saturday, August 18, 2012. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Orange Easley, Sr. and Mary (Jones) Easley; paternal grandparents, Edward James, Sr. and Roberta (Jones) James.

Lisa Roshon James leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Curtis Conway; father, Evangelist Raymond James; mother, Hester Easley; two brothers, Albert Black (Kendra) and Isaac James; three sisters, Deborah Black, Roberta Fitzpatrick (David), and Janis James; three nephews, Darrin, Devin, and Darius; eight nieces, Alexis, Shade, Ashley, Shon, Shay, Brianna, Shamya, and Zoe; great nephews and nieces; and host of other relatives and friends.

Her father's last written sermon (July 2012) that was sent to Lisa and others ended with these words, "I'll see you in God's Kingdom."
