William was born February 7, 1951 to Alma Reese and Mitchell Templeton Sr. in Austin Texas. His sisters are Angela Truitt, Cassandra Templeton, Carla Templeton, Tami Jackson and Gloria Templeton. His brothers are Mitchell Templeton Jr., Darren Keith Templeton, Ronald Bryant, Eric Templeton, Sean Templeton, and Sterling Templeton.

William graduated from Old Anderson High School in 1969, while in high school he worked at the Harlem Theater. He joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church in 1971. William attended Huston-Tillotson College, and the University of Texas at Austin. William then went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force and became an Auto Pilot Technician. William was a Vietnam Veteran. Professionally, he was in sales and worked in Stuttgart, Germany and in Okinawa, Japan.

William was the glue that held his family together always calling and letting everyone know what everyone else was doing. He enjoyed taking his grandchildren everywhere talking into the late night hours with his mother-in-law Della. He was a critical thinker always thinking outside of the box.

He is survived by his wife Janice Templeton and his eight children, William Jr., Cranston, Mia, Jamarc, Eric, Candice, Ashley, and Markell. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
