Clarence James Pierce III was born in New Braunfels, Texas February 10, 1943 to the late Clarence J. Pierce II and Jewel V. Miller-Pierce. he attended Bethel A.M.E. Church, San Antonio, Texas. He also attended Public Schools in San Antonio, Texas and was a member of the R.O.T.C. at Brackenridge High School.

He was a member of the Armed Forces, United States Army. He was a Master Mason, Montopolis Lodge #339 here in Austin, Texas.

Clarence was a Blues Guitarist who led the Texas Eastside Kings and played with several other groups.

He is survived by his daughter, Gidget Mercer (Austin, Texas); granddaughter Britney Onyia (Austin, Texas); stepdaughters Brenda K. Hill (K. Hill)(Austin, Texas), Julia mercer (Houston, Texas); his sisters Beverly M. Calloway (UAE), Pamela R. Stackhouse (Dallas, Texas), Alva rose Wright (San Antonio, Texas), Lila L. Waites (Marcus) (Lancaster, Texas); one brother Julian M. Brown (Diana) (Oak Grove, California).

Special friends to the faily include, but are not limited to Cristeen and Xade Biscoe, Joe and sue Valentine; as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
