Ruth Irene Jamison entered this world on August 31, 1926 to the perfect union of Rozalia and Matthew Johnson in New Orleans, Louisiana. Ruth's father was a minister and introduced her to the Lord and Savior. As a child, Ruth was given an option to attend Sunday school with the family or stay home and complete a long list of chores. You can imagine which option she chose. She willingly accepted Christ and became a member of Stronger Hope Baptist Church in New Orleans.

Even as a child Ruth had passion for people but more than anything she loved playing games with her brothers and sisters. She often spoke of her father taking them to the carnival and the amusement park . . . which she loved!

She received her formal education from McDaniel Elementary and J. W. Hoffman High School. At 19 years old, she was swept off her feet and married the love of her life, Donald Jamison. They were joined in a perfect union in 1945. They were blessed with her only child, Anthony.

Ruth was known for expressing how she felt and she lived her life to the fullest. Because of her compassion and love for God's people, Ruth chose a career in the health care field. She was a dedicated worker, committed to providing the best care to all of her patients.

Ruth Irene was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her brothers Ernest (Grace), Abraham (Cora), George (Lillian), Arthur, Walter and Joseph.

Ruth leaves to celebrate her life, her beloved son Anthony; sisters Mary Allen (late Herman) of New Orleans, Louisiana, Walterine Coleman (late Alfred) of Lagrange, Illinois; her precious grandchildren, Kenyatta (Kimani Sr.) of Manor, Texas, Larean (Ronald) and Latoya of New Orleans, Louisiana; her great grandchildren, Kimani, Jr., Armani, Nehemiah, Jeremiah, and Q'uran. In addition, Ruth is survived by a host of family and friends that she loved dearly.
