James Herbert Nunn, Sr. entered into holy matrimony with Elnora (Reese) Nunn on July 12, 1950, who preceded him in death.

Our father wasn't one for many words, so we're sure he would be surprised to hear us speak about him today. His strong, silent presence was a comfort. But despite what he said or didn't say, we know that he loved all of his children very much. Growing up, we got to see how a real man treats a lady. Our father adored our mother and let her know every day, during their 50 years of marriage, how much he loved her. He was faithful and God-loving.

One of Dad's greatest attributes was that he was a hard worker. His work ethic was when asked to do a job, do it right the first time, no matter how long it takes. He never settled for anything less from his children -- in school or at home. He took great pride in supporting his family –and- he never complained about it.

One of Dad's biggest passions in life was watching his kids participate in sporting activities. It is estimated that throughout the 1960s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s, he attended over 1000 sporting events involving his kids and grandkids. As a result of this dedication, his children gave him the official title of "Sports Dad of the Decades" which the City of Austin joined us in celebrating and acknowledging him.

He worked at Seton Hospital for the last 30 years and he developed many friendships there. His coworkers spoke very highly of him. Everyone spoke of his upbeat attitude and positive approach to work.

He had great love and affection for his relatives as well as our mother's relatives. They all loved and cared for him just as much as he loved them.

Dad, we will never forget you. You taught us so much about love, life and being a good person. We will continue to pattern our lives after yours, and in those times when we need help, we will think back to all the good advice you gave us. Because of this we know we will be fine. You are gone physically from this world, but your memory will live on forever in our hearts and minds.

He is survived by his brother, Johnny Nunn; seven children: James H. Nunn, Jr. (Ann); Dexter R. Nunn, Sr. (Brenda); Larry E. Nunn (Joyce); Michael Nunn; Kathy Lee (Don); Norman L. Nunn, Sr. (Nida); and Eric L. Nunn, Sr. (Irene); 26 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

Also, preceding him in death were his parents: Dock and Ella Nunn; his sisters: Helen Riggins, Pauline East, Ruthie Lee Nunn, Jewel Avalos, Lula Mae Pena, and Betty Jane Nunn; grandson: James H. Nunn III and granddaughter: Kambii Latoya Nunn.

We give special thanks and appreciation to his friend and sweetheart of the last 11 years, Ms. Jackie Ferrer, for giving him love and support during the latter years of his life.
