Sister Bobbie Jean Hughes Majors was born January 28, 1938 in Austin, Texas, the sixth child born to Mr. James Willie and Mrs. Margaret Hughes.

She attended Austin Independent School District and graduated from Old L. C. Anderson High School in 1957. She continued her education at Paul Quinn College in Waco, Texas where she received her teaching degree, met and married her college sweetheart, Mr. John Daniel Majors. To this union four children were born.

Bobbie received Christ at an early age at Grant Chapel AME Church where she served throughout her entire life until her health failed. She attended Sunday School and A. C. E. League. She was part of the Sunbeam Choir, the Junior Choir and later sang in the Inspirational, Adult and Chancellor Choirs.

Bobbie ran a daycare for over twenty years where she was very dedicated in being and having all children that came through her daycare in her life.

Those who have gone to pave the way for Bobbie's arrival include her parents, Margaret Lewis Hughes and James Willie Hughes, her husband, John Daniel Majors, Sr., two brothers, three sisters, one son, Larry Majors, one daughter Wanda Jean Majors, one step daughter Yasmine Yvette Bledsoe, and one grandson Deonte Laron Majors.

Bobbie leaves to cherish her memory one son, John Douglas Majors; one daughter, Sharon Patricia Majors; three stepchildren, John Daniel Majors, Jr., Jaque Majors and Spencer Majors; one brother Johnny B. Hughes and one sister Emma Margaret Benford; 27 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
