Mrs. Barbara M. Roe (Mae Bobbie) was born in Winnsboro, Texas on June 10, 1934 to Harold and Maggie Ross. She entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 26, 2012.

Barbara attended public schools in Webster, Texas and attended Lincoln High School in Kansas City, Missouri. In 1956 she was joined in holy matrimony in Kansas City, Missouri to John Boyd Sodie and they celebrated twenty-years of marriage. This union was blessed with six children. Barbara was a loving mother and wife to her family. In 1975, the family moved to Austin, Texas. The following year her husband, John, preceded her in death.

Barbara met James Otis Roe and they were joined in holy marriage on June 9, 1978. This holy bond united six additional children whom Barbara loved and accepted as her own. Barbara and James became members of Union Lee Missionary Baptist Church where they faithfully served their congregation by preparing the Sunday meals. She continued her fellowship there until she was called home to be with the Lord.
Barbara was employed as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) for many years at Heritage Park Nursing Home. In 1977 she began working for Master Valet Cleaners as a Presser and remained there for over
fifteen-years. She was a faithful, dependable employee, and loved by all.

To her family in Kansas City, she was affectionately called "Mae Bobbie". She was a compassionate and caring woman who laughed hard and loved harder. She will be sorely missed by her BFF (Best Friend Forever) of more than sixty-years; Juanita Morgan Brown (Kansas City, MO).

Her parents, Harold and Maggie Ross, preceded her in death, as well as her brother, Edward Dean Mitchell. She is survived by her husband, James Roe (Austin, TX); her sister, Betty Jean Johnson; her cousins, Ella Cunningham and Carolyn Ivey (Kansas City, MO); her six children, Penny Allen and Anthony Sodie (Kansas City, MO), Lorraine Barnes and Marion Lynn Curry (Austin, TX), Jeffrey Sodie (Erika), Houston, TX and Johnny Sodie (Cottonport, LA).
She is also survived by several grandchildren: Chanel Joseph (Dallas, TX), Dawn Berry (Michael), St. Louis, MO, Brian Ziegler (Austin, TX), Sherry Brown and Faith Sodie (Kansas City, MO), Crystal Reed, Brandon Moore, Sedrick Johnson, Renee Jones (Glen), Antoinette Sodie, Chanee' Cuington (Clyde), Tamika Smith, Andre Center (Austin, TX), Joshua Sodie, Jacentha Carter, Monte Barnes (Kansas City, MO), Kirby Barnes, Hillary Morris, Brandi Morris, Marc Morris (Sophia) and Marcus Morris (Austin, TX), Damien Darden (Elyria, OH), Briana Wallace and Breon Fisher (Austin, TX), Vacchino Rogers, Jeffrey Sodie, Jr., Shayla Sodie (Houston, TX), and Toya Reed (Austin, TX).
