Marvin was born July 24, 1963 in Austin, Texas. He attended Austin public schools and vocational trade schools where he acquired and mastered his profession of HVAC. Marvin enjoyed life and he demonstrated his passion for life in the things he enjoyed most, working and sharing his talents with many.

At a young age he began working in landscaping, from there he began working as a caterer where he met so many people and with his charming personality and smile he acquired many friends. Marvin went on to work for State of Texas, City of Austin and Travis County and once again making many friends and helping others as he traveled along his journey. Marvin became an independent contractor where he worked in his profession of HVAC in addition to helping others in any capacity that was needed.

Marvin would say "If I could help somebody as I pass along this way, then my living would not be in vain." He was baptized at an early age by the late Pastor L.M. Roberts of Greater Union Missionary Baptist Church. His Christian journey was filled with various ministries and he accepted his call to the ministry under the leadership of Pastor Leonard D. James of Greater Works Baptist Church. At the time of his death, Marvin was a loyal and dedicated member of the St. John College Heights Baptist Church.

His mother Majorie Blaine, grandparents Havannah Clark, L.D. Clark, Mamie and Guthrie Johnson preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his loving wife of 23 years Mildred Spencer Pleasant, son Frederick, daughters Shannon, Shantel and Sherelle, four grandchildren Sanaa, Tiarra, Kevin (KJ) and Isaiah. Two sisters Jacqueline Pleasant and JoAnn Simms, two brothers Hershel Pleasant and Michael Pleasant all of Austin, Texas. Two aunts Dorothy Scott (Melvin) and Jewell Davidson. Mother-In- Law Murtis Spencer of McGhee Arkansas, Sisters-In-Law Carrie Hardeman (Anthony) of Austin, Texas, Teletha Leonard (Stephon), Mary Roberson (Archie), Christell Moore, Reola Jordan and Dorothy White all from McGhee Arkansas. A host of numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends; and his adopted daughter Linda Stroud and her two children De'Nasia and Marvin.
