To Everything There Is A Season…

A season to be born… James Ray Kellum was born on December 1, 1941, in Bonwier, Texas to the late Grover and Loma Kellum. He was the fourth of twelve children. He professed his love for Christ at an early age and joined the church.

A season to learn… He attended Newton County schools and was a graduate of Kerr High School Class of 1961. Immediately after High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served as a Sergeant for eight years. During that time he served two tours in the lovely state of Hawaii.

A season to live… He was a loving and devoted Husband, Father, Father In-law, Grandfather, brother and friend to all. He empowered and encouraged all that knew him to make the most of all blessings. James also had a love for sports (Basketball and Football) and could often be found sitting in his "BIG" chair watching his favorite College or Professional teams play. He was a Big fan of any activity in which his grandchildren were participants and could often be found in the bleachers observing or silently coaching to get any team in which they played a favored chance to "win". He also had a love for the Culinary Art of Cooking and will be GREATLY missed for his Holiday Dressing and Smoked Brisket.

A season to rest… On Monday, April 23, 2012, in the early morning, James Ray departed this life to answer the Lord's call to come and rest.

A season to remember… He leaves to cherish his memories his beautiful wife, friend and soul mate Mary Kellum; two daughters: Yolanda Kellum-Roberson (Hans), Austin, Texas, and Kimberly Kellum-Royal (Alfonso), Round Rock, Texas; five wonderful grandchildren: Alfonso Demarcus Royal IV, Halona Dawn Roberson, Darius Halen Roberson, Kendrick Dalton James Royal, and Amarys Diamond Danae Royal; three brothers E.J. Kellum (Gloria), Spring, Texas; Jerry Kellum (Carol), Prairie View, Texas, and Bobby Kellum (Linda), Houston, Texas; three sisters: Virda K. Lester (William-deceased), Tuskegee, Alabama, Vera M. Moore (Carl), Houston, Texas, and Gladys Ferguson (Dawson), Spring, Texas. He will also be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, J.B Kellum, Grover Kellum Jr., and Roger Dale Kellum, and two sisters.
