A Profile of Life
To God be the Glory
To everything there is a season. . . A time to be born
Ecclesiastes 3:1-2
Linda entered the world on December 30, 1951, as the youngest child of nine born to Jerome and Hazel Beall and was reared with her siblings in the Fairfield Community of East Texas.

When I was a child. . .
I Corinthians 13:11
Linda was educated in the Henderson Independent School District, and integrated the
Junior High in the 1960's. She loved reading and writing. She spent her spare time with family and her best friend, her cousin Rose, who would later care for her till her journey's end.

Who can find a virtuous woman?
For her price is far above rubies…
Proverbs 31:10
Linda married Donald Ray Washington, Sr. and the couple settled in Austin, Texas during the 1970s, where Don was stationed at Bergstrom Air Force Base. Linda was mother to Raynel, Donald (Donnie) Ray, Jr., LeChelle, John Wesley, and Victoria. She was a highly involved and supportive parent who was known to volunteer with all of their activities whenever and wherever needed. She helped Raynel manage the Vikettes and was Tori's number one fan at her piano and violin recitals. Linda traveled across Texas supporting LeChelle's pageant competitions and talent shows and she was an avid sideline cheerleader at Wes' Pop Warner Football games and basketball games. It was with a heavy heart that she joined others in sending off Donnie to the Gulf War. Throughout the years Linda gladly became a "mother" to so many; loving them all as her own.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. . . Matthew 5:16
For over 35 years Linda enjoyed a successful career at State Farm Insurance in the regional office. She served as a volunteer on the State Farm Adopt-A-School project for over ten years. She was also very active in Toastmasters International, serving as President and Vice President. Linda loved to cook, but her true passion was baking.

During the holiday season her oven was constantly used to bake all the delicious cakes and pies friends had requested for their own families. She enjoyed reading romance and mystery novels. Her favorite shows were Perry Mason, Criminal Mind, NCIS and all the Law & Order shows.

I must work the works of Him that sent me. . .
John 9:4
Linda joined St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Austin, Texas under the pastoral leadership of the late E.M. Franklin and remained a faithful member under B.W. McClendon who became pastor in 1993. She was an active member of the
St. James M.B.C. Mass Choir and Women's Choir until 2011. Linda also happily served as a Sunday School volunteer and in the Junior Mission ministry.

The Departure… absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord II Corinthians 5:8
On April 5, 2012, Linda was summoned from labor to reward in glory. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, Joe Melvin, and two sisters, Effie Sherow and Geraldine Burnett.

Linda leaves to cherish her memory:
Raynel of Austin, TX; Donald Ray, Jr. (Kristie) of Baton Rouge, LA; LeChelle (Jonathan Elmore) of Houston, TX; John Wesley of Austin, TX; and Victoria (Adam Ward) of Austin, TX. Her surviving siblings are Floyd (Lawrence) of Crockett, TX; Harold of
Dallas, TX; Lavon Leach of Los Angeles, CA; Richard (Rosiland) of Missouri City, TX; Elva of Los Angeles, CA; and Brother-in-Law, George Washington (Mary) of Henderson, TX. Linda is survived by six darling grandchildren: Jerome (Raynel); Kameron and Kian
(Donald); Jadon and Jordan (LeChelle); and Aiden (Victoria). Additionally, she leaves behind her cousin, Rose (Robert) Williams of Henderson, TX, and host of cousins, nephews and nieces.
