Rickey Darnell Perkins was born on August 18, 1963 to Margaret Perkins Johnson and Brady Howard.

He attended Austin Public Schools and graduated from Reagan High School.

Rickey affiliated with the New Bethel Baptist Church and First Baptist Church where he sang tenor in the choir. Later in life he transferred his Christian growth and became a member of the St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church.

Rickey never had children of his own, however, he took pride and responsibility in nurturing his nieces and nephews. He treasured and enjoyed his mother's company, riding his bicycle, playing games with his brother Garry and just being with his family and friends. He was an excellent chef. Rickey was the master on the bar-b-que pit. He was a very nice guy and friendly all the time. If he saw you, he never failed to acknowledge you with the things we will miss a hello and a smile.

Rickey was preceded in death by his father, Brady Howard; grandmother, Mary Loggins; his love, Kay and cousin, Darrell Stewart.

Rickey is survived by a loving and devoted mother, Margaret Perkins Johnson; sister, Tameca Jones; brothers, Ezell Johnson, Jr. and Garry Johnson (Shernette); step-sister, Neicy Johnson; aunts, Barbara Stewart, Joyce Fowler and Armentha Gillian; uncles, Jerry Perkins, Norman Perkins, Sr., and Kenneth Perkins; nieces, Tashanique Boyd, Talicia Morrison, Sherrell Morrison, Sha'tarra Warren, Ezelia Johnson, Sadie Clark, Alonda Gumz, Desirae Jones; nephews, Destry Hall, DeVontae Clemons, LaDarius Morrison, Destry Hall, Jr., and La Taveon Manor; family friends, Terry Jones, Todd Vaughn and Joe Day. He is also loved by a host of cousins and beloved friends.
