Mae Ola Clay Pleasant was born February 14, 1922 in Wetmore, Texas to Mr. Lee Demp Clay and Mrs. Easter Jane Hockley-Clay.

She professed her faith in Christ at an early age and attended Church in the San Antonio, Texas area for a number of years. In 1947 she relocated to Austin, Texas where she united with the New Mount Olive Baptist Church. She later became a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until her health failed. Although she was home bound she prayed daily and read her bible consistently.

Mae attended School in the San Antonio School district. She was employed by Kelly Field Air Force Base in San Antonio. When she relocated to Austin, she became a self-employed bookkeeper until she retired.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to Thomas Jefferson Pleasant on February 28, 1945 in San Antonio, Texas. To this union five children were born: Paul J. Pleasant, Samuel J. (Jimmy) Pleasant, Ezra C. Pleasant, Mary E. Pleasant and Martha C. Pleasant. From a previous marriage two sons were born: Tomie Adams and Richard Adams.

Mae was preceded in death by her parents: Mr. Lee Demp Clay and Mrs. Easter Jane Hockley-Clay; her husband: Thomas Jefferson Pleasant; two sons: Richard Adams, Paul Pleasant, five brothers and three sisters.

Mae Ola Clay Pleasant is survived by three sons: Tomie Adams, San Antonio, Texas; Samuel Pleasant, Sr., Austin, Texas; Ezra Pleasant, Austin, Texas; two daughters: Mary Pleasant, Austin, Texas; Martha Vincent (Elmo) Austin, Texas; 18 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
