Mary Ann Ockletree Cyphers was born on May 19, 1942 to David Ockletree and Annie Mae Howard Ockletree in Austin, Texas. Her life came to rest on December 29, 2011. Mary Ann professed her hope in Christ at an early age, where she was a longtime member at St. Edward's Baptist Church under the late Rev. Admiral DeWitty. Upon moving to San Marcos, Texas, she reunited with the Pentecostal Temple C.O.G.I.C. under the pastoral leadership of Paul Thompson, Sr. Being led by God, she united with Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Benjamin Smith. She attended A.I.S.D. at the Old L. C. Anderson High School. Mary Ann united in holy matrimony to the late Artie L. McDonald, Jr. in 1959. To this union four children were born, Darryl Ray McDonald of Corpus Christi, Texas, Michael David McDonald of San Marcos, Texas, Dwight Carlisle McDonald of San Marcos, Texas and one daugher Doris McDonald who preceded her in death. She later married Robert Lee Cyphers in 1973 where one child was born, Robbie Lynn Cyphers who preceded her in death. Mary Ann was also preceded in death by her mother and father as well as her sister Netter Mae Ockletree Morris. She is honored and cherished by her surviving sons Darryl, Michael (Dorise) and Dwight McDonald; one sister, Virgil L. Coleman (Willie L.); two brothers, David L. Ockletree and Larry Miller; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; great nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
