Barbara L. Harris was born to B. T. Harris and Percy Jones on August 2, 1938 in Navarro County, Texas
He attended Huston-Tillotson College and married Lonnie L. Melton, Sr. on June 2, 1956.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Lonnie L. Melton, Sr. She leaves to mourn sons Harlon Melton, Sr. (Barbara), Voncil L. Melton, Lonnie L. Melton, Jr.; daughters Saretya L. Herring (Anthony), Sherilyn L. Tillis (Kenneth). She also leaves two sisters, Lela Sue Gibson, Maudra Dixon, one brother Leonard A. Dixon; eighteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
