Mrs. Roberta Joyce Hervey was born to the union of Elias Jones and Bessie Green on May 16, 1939 in Webberville, Texas.
She departed this life February 16, 2010.
Roberta united in Holy Matrimony to Reverend Lorenzo Hervey, Sr. on August 30, 1958 and to this union three children were born.
Roberta attended Webberville schools and graduated from L. C. Anderson High School in Austin, Texas. She was a housewife who delighted in both her home and family.
Roberta accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Webberville Ebenezer Baptist Church under Pastor J. L. Thompson. She was a member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church under Pastor E. L. Roberts where she participated in both Mission II and Deaconess Auxiliaries. Later she joined Antioch Baptist Church under Pastor W. R. Jasper, and presently was a member of New Lincoln Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor A. R. Evans, Sr. where she was a member of the Deaconess and Ministers' Wives Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elias Jones, Sr. and Bessie Jones; her husband Rev. Lorenzo Hervey, Sr., her son Lorenzo Hervey, Jr., her sisters Altameter Jones, Fannie Lee Carathers, Norma Jean Carathers, Margie Rae Renchie, Ora Maxine Dantzler, and brother Elias J. Jones.
Roberta leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Marcia Hervey (Kendrick), Valerie Perkins (Dennis) both of Austin, Texas; sisters Carolyn LaVon Lyons, Dorothy Faye Traylor and Mae Frances Prosser, all of Austin, Texas; sister-in-law Vera Traylor of DeKalb, Texas; brother William Ross Jones of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren Quentin Donte Perkins and Brandon Louis Hervey; one great grandchild Quenise Amron Perkins; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
